Did you know that:
1-back pain is the most common complaint among adults with up to 80% of the population suffering from some type of back pain in their lives?
2-71% of back surgeries fail?
3-Of the estimated $100 billion that lower back pain costs the United States annually, two-thirds is due to lost wages and lost productivity?
4-90% people age 50 and up have degenerative disc disease?
5-the ELDOA method can decompress your spine, decrease your pain, and help alleviate your symptoms if you are suffering from a degenerated disc, bulging disc, herniated disc, or thinning disc?

Intro To ELDOA Class
Come and join me for a one on one or group class to learn and experience the power of ELDOA. This class is structured to include an ELDOA for each segment of the spine including the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Anyone who is a working professional who sits or stands all day, has scoliosis(which I do), students, athletes, runners, elderly, youth/adolescents, anyone who has back pain of any kind, or if you are pain free and want to stay that way!

What The Heck is ELDOA? UPDATED 12/9/19

What The Heck Is An ELDOA?
“The ELDOA are very precise postures that target a specific joint region to provide relief from pain and restore balance. The human spine is a complicated and vital structure. Compression and articular blocks can cause pain, arthritis and neurological conditions. The ELDOA exercises are a highly effective solution to these conditions.”

“Designed by French osteopath Guy VOYER DO, the ELDOA (Etirements Longitudinaux avec Decoaptation Osteo-Articulaire) utilize myofascial stretching to put tension around a primary lesion making it the center of “separating forces.” The myofascial tension solicits a postural normalization in a specific joint resulting in numerous benefits.”

“As the ELDOA “creates space”, there is an improvement in joint mechanics, increased blood flow, reduced pressure on the inter-vertebral discs, spinal disc re-hydration, increased muscle tone and awareness, metabolic and hormonal balance, normalization of the myofascial tensions, lessening of pain, better posture, and an increased sense of well-being.”

The importance of “Fascia” and the ELDOA Method
Fascia is:
1-in every movement that you make.
2-the skin of a structure that gives it shape and structural integrity and encases your body.
3-permeates everyone of your muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, lymphatics, organs, glands, sclera of the eye, dura meter of the cranium/brain, and dura meter of the spinal cord.
4-connects your organs to your ribs to your muscles and all the bones to each other.
5-enables you to maintain correct posture and prevents muscles from tearing.
6-unifying element of all tissues.
7-composed mostly of water, two kinds of protein called collagen and elastin, and proteoglycans(protein and carbohydrates).
-collagen(protein) makes up about 30% of the body and provides much of its structural support.
-elastin is structural and elastic and returns to its original shape after being stretched.
-proteoglycans hold the water that keeps the fascia supple(glucosamine and chondroitin are proteoglycans).

Fascia Injuries
Tight fascia compresses nerves in that area so it can’t transmit a full signal of strength to that area which leads to nerve deficiency and translates into muscle weakness, joint pain, numbness, tingling, or pain down the arm, impaired circulation, increased inflammation, then body produces excess scar tissue.

With that said, now you can see the importance of fascia in your body and that you must take care of it. The goal of each ELDOA exercise is to create fascial tension above and below the joint or disc that one is trying to “open up” or decompress. When that happens it can lead to the health benefits I mentioned above. Practicing ELDOA and staying hydrated will keep the “suppleness” that should be in a healthy disc and throughout the tissues of your body.
